Sigetronics, a next-generation specialized semiconductor company, announced on June 17 that it has completed the development of its next-generation Multi-Channel Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) platform based on its in-house M-FAB semiconductor manufacturing line and epitaxial (EPI) technology. The platform is designed to address the growing demand in mobile devices, automotive applications, and high-power LED markets.
As advanced electronics markets such as smartphones, electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous driving systems (ADAS), and industrial automation continue to expand, the importance of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Electrical Overstress (EOS) protection technologies for ensuring system reliability is increasing rapidly.
Sigetronics' EPI-based TVS platform overcomes the limitations of conventional diffusion-type TVS devices. By utilizing an EPI junction structure, the platform achieves improved breakdown voltage uniformity while simultaneously delivering ultra-low capacitance of 0.3–0.8 pF and ultra-low leakage current characteristics. These features enable superior protection performance even in high-speed data interface environments.
In particular, the company has established a world-class multi-channel TVS platform by incorporating multi-layer EPI structures and Double-Trench device isolation technology. The platform provides ESD robustness exceeding ±30 kV, along with outstanding EOS protection capability.
This technology can be applied not only to mobile electronic devices such as smartphones, wearable devices, tablets, and laptops, but also to industries requiring stringent durability standards, including electric vehicles (EVs), ADAS, and industrial robots.
From a manufacturing perspective, Sigetronics differentiates itself through its in-house M-FAB operational capability, enabling a fully integrated process from design and wafer fabrication to production. The company can also provide customized TVS designs and package solutions tailored to customer requirements.
According to industry estimates, the global market for ESD and TVS protection devices—including mobile multi-channel TVS products, automotive communication TVS devices, and flip-chip LED TVS products, which are among Sigetronics' key focus areas—is valued at approximately USD 2.5 billion to USD 4.0 billion.
A representative from Sigetronics stated, "Sigetronics is one of Korea's leading semiconductor platform companies capable of providing fully integrated manufacturing of ESD/TVS protection devices and optical sensors, from wafer fabrication to packaging. Through our differentiated EPI-based multi-channel TVS platform, we will continue to provide customized protection solutions for next-generation electronic devices in mobile, automotive, and industrial automation markets, while rapidly expanding our market share."
