Sigetronics successfully completed the in-orbit validation of its Schottky Barrier Diode (SBD) by participating in the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI)'s "Domestic Space Qualification Platform No. 1" program. The device operated reliably for more than six months in the actual space environment, further demonstrating the reliability and robustness of Korea's domestically developed semiconductor technology.

Project Overview
The Domestic Space Qualification Platform No. 1 was a national project conducted to verify the performance and reliability of domestically developed electronic components under actual space conditions. A total of nine key categories of Korean electronic components—including SRAM, ADC/DAC, diodes, capacitors, resistors, magnetic cores, thermistors, heaters, and connectors—were integrated into a satellite, and their performance was successfully validated in orbit.
Validation Results
Sigetronics'
Schottky Barrier Diode (SBD) operated normally throughout more than six months
of in-orbit operation. Measurement data confirmed stable electrical performance
with no signs of degradation or abnormal behavior. The minor variations
observed were attributed to satellite temperature fluctuations and measurement
noise, with no evidence of any functional failure or performance degradation of
the device itself.

Significance and Future Outlook
This achievement demonstrates that Sigetronics' semiconductor devices have secured outstanding reliability even under actual space conditions. It represents a significant milestone that further expands the potential application of the company's technologies not only in the aerospace sector but also across a wide range of industries requiring high-reliability semiconductor solutions.
Leveraging its in-house semiconductor
manufacturing technology and robust quality management capabilities,
Sigetronics will continue to expand its portfolio of high-reliability
semiconductor solutions beyond the automotive, industrial, and defense markets
into the space industry.
